Is it difficult to register a car in Japan?

I think I could get a Shaken pretty easily, but I have a car in New Zealand that was originall sent from Japan. It only cost about $500 to send it back to Japan, but what would I have to do after that? I would need new plates and everything for Japan. A cost of at least 1000000 yen, I guess. How much would it cost and what would I need to do? I would proabably then send the car back to NZ after two years!

if you live in japan , ask some friends who like cars. I heard there is a way to go through shaken by yourself. I think some boys who like cars know how to do that. shaken cost is usually about 100000 yen - 150000 yen not 1000000 yen I have heard shaken myself cost about 50000 yen ,but im not sure

Not really.

It depends on whether the car has history of driving on Japanese streets. If it has, it's easy to register in Japan. But if it does not, things could be difficult. Car regulation is different between Japan and NZ. So if your car does not comply with Japanese regulations, you need fair amount of parts change or what. No one here can answer how much it costs. You have to bring it to car dealer. Usually, what you need is, 1, insurance (mandatory and voluntary) 2, garage certificate (You need certificate of the place where you can keep your car) 3, Registration. (You have to go to Rikuunkyoku). You need Japanese langauge skill.
