I am considering buying a new Honda CR-Z. The current tragedy in Japan concerns me as far as the availibility of parts for it in the future. Of course, the salesman assured me there would be no problem because their factories are in USA or southern Japan (but maybe some of the components they use to make the parts come from the effected areas???) I know car sales people will tell you anything to sell you a car, so I would like opinions as to if you think that I could have problems and or long waits should this car need repairs in the next couple of years? Thanks so much!

Honda strongly supports their vehicles with numerous OEM parts and even still continues to support many of their cars older than 25 years with brand new parts unlike domestics who only support them going about 10-15 years back. And yes Honda does have plants here in the U.S. where a majority of Honda cars are built right here in the States. In other words, don't worry, there will always be parts available for your Honda.

Just about every replacement part I have bought for my Honda Accord has a made in USA sticker and I have yet to buy a part made in Japan. I think you will be alright. Aside from that the tragedy in Japan did no harm to Honda Motor Company and Japan will be back on its feet in no time(their not Haiti). For the most part Honda builds all the cars it sell here in Ohio so most of the parts are American Sourced.
